MERCI

Heading to Paris this weekend for a long awaited trip with my daughter, hoping to comeback with truckloads of inspiration. My most anticipated stop (aside from the usual cultural suspects of course) is the concept store Merci. I've traded a day at Disneyland for this so I'm hoping it's worth all the glowing reviews I've read and gorgeous photo's I've oogled.
I'll be happy if I'm just allowed to sit in this corner for a while.

Blackboard inspiration

I got a turn of the century school blackboard on an easel at auction this weekend (see photo below) and took my usual wander round looking for some inspiration. I will be picking it up over the weekend and should have it up for sale early next week.

I'll add a link just as soon as it goes up on Donedeal.

Antler Inspiration

I got a hold of these antique antelope horns at auction last week so did a trawl through the internet for a little inspiration on bringing them into a modern interior. Hunting lodge/trophy room not being a look I'd like to go for in my living room. The pictures below are some of my favourites and came from Living Etc. pages on House to Home

The horns are for sale on Donedeal as we speak. Have a lovely weekend.

Chairs etc

I found a little inspiration for some solutions to my excess chair problem if only space was willing.

But for now they'll have to remain in their regimental rows in the loft.

Crate Inspiration

A couple of months ago I bought some vintage crates at auction. Not enough to create a wall of storage like this from Living Etc unfortunately but I did get four similar to the one pictured below.

They were Polish and one of them was dated 1959 so I reckoned they were all around the same date. These crates are my favourite kind of storage, practical and beautiful. I had sometimes seen them used as display in shops but never for sale so I was thrilled to get them at the auction. I managed to part with two since this is supposed to be a business and my "finds" are supposed to be stock so selling half of them was a step in the right direction at least.

The two I sold on Donedeal were bought by the lovely Claire who kindly sent these photos above and below of the crates (adapted with castors) hard at work in her home.

PULL UP A CHAIR

I may have mentioned before that I have a slight chair fetish that shows no sign of abating. There are currently nineteen dining chairs in a two bed apartment with two inhabitants. I can only hope that my ever expanding rear will never need more than two chairs at any one time and as my dining table can sit eight at a stretch that leaves me with an excess of 10ish chairs.

This dainty little number had a broken leg that was being supported by shabby upholstery alone and had to be reduced to kindling before a makeover could begin. Some glue, a few screws, new fabric and several (five) coats of paint later and the chair is bright, fresh and beautiful and most importantly capable of keeping an admittedly diminutive rear firmly off the floor.

My daughter took a shine to this so it was never going to be for sale. Chair numbers remain at nineteen and climbing then.
